Does anyone have advice on terrain building?

I am trying to make a trench warfare board for my Guard Infantry. I have some MDF for the actual board but I am having a dickens of a time trying to find a hot wire cutter for polystyrene. I have tried local hardware shops, hobbycraft, B + Q, even Halfords!

They don't any more unfortunately. I can't find any where that stocks polystyrene at a decent thickness! 1-2mm seems to be about the limit!

Well, most hotwire cutters are not going to help much if you have a very wide piece of foam. Most cutters will be unable to go all the way through. Also, if you want to cut a lot of straight lines, you are better off using a saw. Table saws work great if the foam isn't too thick and you don't mind the mess, though with any saw you will have a mess.

If you cannot find one is stores, check online.

Otherwise, you can build one yourself.
